Program notes: Éliane Radigue’s Naldjorlak, American premiere
For the American premiere of Éliane Radigue’s Naldjorlak in Philadelphia on September 24, 2010, the program included an essay tracing Radigue’s path from musique concrète and feedback loops to her ARP 2500 works, the Trilogie de la Mort, and her later collaborative pieces for acoustic instruments. Naldjorlak, developed with cellist Charles Curtis and basset horn players Bruno Martinez and Carol Robinson, exists without a score, in what Radigue calls an “oral tradition.” The essay was later posted on the blog Acousmata.
