Facing Front in The Inquirer

In The Philadelphia Inquirer, A.D. Amorosi previewed Facing Front, thirdbird’s retrospective of the duets of choreographer Jonathan Burrows and composer Matteo Fargion at the Neighborhood House Theater, June 19–27, 2015. The two artists describe how their pieces begin, often with one of them starting without telling the other, and how Both Sitting Duet grew in 2002 into a body of work that crosses the borders between dance and music. Dustin Hurt, director of Bowerbird, says it is a mistake to call Burrows the choreographer and Fargion the composer, because “they create a third genre between music and dance.”
