A Critic’s Pick for That Which Is Fundamental in New York
Zachary Woolfe of The New York Times named Julius Eastman: That Which Is Fundamental a Critic’s Pick and called it an essential festival, organized by Tiona Nekkia McClodden and Dustin Hurt, director of Bowerbird, with The Kitchen. He wrote about the four-piano performance at the Knockdown Center in Queens, the chorus of Arcana New Music Ensemble in Thruway and Buddha, Dustin Hurt’s arrangement of Gay Guerrilla for 11 electric guitars, and S.E.M. Ensemble’s Femenine.
