Three Exploring Sound workshops with Juan Castrillón
We’re thrilled to announce that Juan Castrillón, a cultural anthropologist, ethnomusicologist and musician whose research centers on theories of listening, will teach three Exploring Sound workshops at the Neighborhood Sound Lab, on how sound is built and how we hear it. Juan is fluent in Spanish and English, and no previous experience is needed.
- Exploring Wave Shape and Perception. Thursday, October 29, 6:30–8pm. Basic wave forms and their sonic character, and how modular systems combine them.
- Exploring Filtering. Tuesday, December 8, 6:30–8pm. How modular systems shape the frequency spectrum of the sounds passing through them.
- Exploring Accent, Cycle and Repetition. Tuesday, December 15, 6:30–8pm. Building cycles and patterns, and hearing what makes a loop groove.
Nos complace anunciar que Juan Castrillón impartirá tres talleres de Exploring Sound en el Neighborhood Sound Lab, sobre cómo se construye y se escucha el sonido. Juan habla español e inglés con fluidez, y no se necesita experiencia previa.
All classes will meet in the Community Synth Studio at AMLA Studios at Esperanza in Hunting Park. Classes are for ages 18 and up, are limited to 10 people, and need an advance ticket reservation. See the full schedule on the Neighborhood Sound Lab page. Questions: SoundLab@bowerbird.org
